CYC 2021 Season of Giving: Clothing Drive
CYC continued our tradition of gifting cards and kind letters to the seniors in our nursing homes. The pandemic has caused growing distance and isolation between families especially with the limited traveling ability in the holiday season, but the members of CYC and our volunteers helped cheer up the seniors in our community at Heathwood with a hundred kind messages! Thank you to everyone who made a card, and our seniors appreciate the warm messages!

CCWNY & CYC Asian Food Festival
At the first event of the new term, CYC's stand at the festival displayed art created by Chinese youth, featured delicious Asian snacks and candy, hosted chess games, and taught kids and adults how to make origami. We hope everyone enjoyed Canalside and loved the amazing cuisine at the festival, the entertaining dances, and the performances there!

CCWNY & CYC Summer Fundraising Walk
Thank you for all of your support for our first in-person event since the beginning of the pandemic! We raised over $200 to support future CCWNY and CYC events, and donated $54 to a local COVID charity called the WNY COVID-19 Community Response Fund. We are so incredibly proud of the strength and resiliency of our community and can't wait to continue providing you with fun and engaging events!

This year, although an in-person egg hunt wasn't possible, you all still showed immense support, allowing our Virtual Easter Event to achieve great success! We were able to hold a virtual Easter scavenger hunt, escape room game, jigsaw puzzle activity, and a trivia competition. Congratulations to Julia Mu, Olivia Tu, Paisley Chi, and Zoe Cheng, the four winners from the event! We hope you all had a joyful, safe Easter! Thank you for your continuous participation and support!

Letters to Seniors
During these difficult times, the elderly can struggle the most due to social isolation. We asked you to write letters of love and encouragement, and you exceeded our expectations - sending us a total of 620 cards!! Special thanks to Leah Huang, who went above and beyond expectations, sending us 500 cards!! We were able to distribute the cards to various senior homes, including Beechwood, Blocher Homes, Elderwood Village at Bassett Park, Elderwood at Williamsville, Solstice Senior Living, and Park Creek Senior Living Community. With your help, we were able to give one card to every senior. Thanks to your outstanding community service, we were truly able to brighten their days. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Virtual Community Concert
Last summer, we were able to hold several successful community concerts. This year, although real-life concerts aren't possible, we reached out to the community, asking you all to send videos of yourselves playing music! We hope this video brightens your day. Check it out HERE! There are timestamps for each of the performers included in the description of the video. Music can transcend language during these difficult times, so remember to stay strong! We will get through this! Thank you for your continuous support.
